Che cazo fa, Cafone!

Cafone

And then we found Lovely Dog

What a day!

Me and my hipster buddies went to Bologna for a good day trip, and let me tell you IT WAS GREAT!

First, like every good hipster should do, we hit the flea market and got ourselves some good old vintage sweaters.

Later we went to get some good good food. IMPORTANT TIP: Bologna has some of the best food in Italy. Lasagna and Tortellini, to mention some, were invented there.

As we got back to Florence we hit the good happy hour spot, Mostodolce, and had a good honey birra!

Later, we went to the “fill you bottle” wine place at the corner of my house and got some good sweet wine.

While we were drinking it in our normal chilling spot a porcupine/hitchHock came to us, in all of his glory, and became our pet. His name is Lovely Dog

I wish I had a very ridiculous pet, like a chicken, and I could call it Lovely Dog

As soon as Silvia leaves, this house just becomes a different thing. Walking around without shoes, brushing our teeth with the door open

Italy. Now

Ive realized I love art history. I have also realized, Its hard to meet italians when your language skills are so choppy.

I am so used of having full control over my language skills. When I moved to the US back in the day when I couldnt say a word of english it just wasnt so hard. I lived in an international community where everyone was doing all they could to communicate a little. Here is a different story.

Italians, as I am, are SICK of tourists. It is not hard at all to find friendly italians, because they all want to help out the poor little lost tourists, but it is IMPOSIBLE to go out at night and meet any italian who can hear your little accent and awkward sentence structure behind that “Capisco, Io sono una studentessa anchio”

Even if spanish has helped me like no other, gracias a dios por mi lengua madre, it is still a constant struggle to communicate. I just really wish I had more italian classes and for gods sake a language partner!

I promise to write about all of them. Just, gimme a bit of time!

Important Italian Words

My favorite Italian is, by far, my host mom Silvia. She is just a brava donna! She chills, she hangs out, she reads the news every day and goes to the movies with her friends. She is, also, my favorite italian teacher.

The most important words I’ve learned come from her and here is a list of my top favorite words so far:

1. Prugna (Pru-Ña) which means plum. Silvia buys the best plums and makes jam with them. As she also makes peach jam.

2. Antitetico, which means antonym. Its not useful, its just a great word.

3. Schifo (Es-KI-fo) And Schiferines. Skifo means gross and skiferines is a word made up by Silvia that describes the nasty fattening shit that americans eat, like chips and reeses and all those awful things.

3. Puzzo.(Put-Zo) Stinky. Best word to describe myself after going to the Dolomites for a weekend.

4. Polpacho. its the cabs muscles. Those hurt so much after the Dolomites also.

5. Colpacho. A hit of luck, like when you win the lottery.

6. Orsito. A word that mixes italian and spanish creating the perfect word for a little baby bear. In italian diminutives do not sound as cute as in spanish and Silvia agrees.

Gotta say, I really like my Silvia
